Two people comparing two printed versions of a campaign before deciding

Google announced new testing and planning tools for AI Max in Search campaigns. The proposal makes it possible to evaluate changes before rolling them out and to work through budget decisions with more information. It's an update for advertisers; on its own it doesn't prove that any account will get better results.

For a small business, testing matters because the budget has limits. Changing many elements at once can make it hard to tell what helped and what generated spend with no benefit. A well-designed comparison needs a specific question and a way to review the result.

The landing page and the handling of inquiries are still part of the job. Showing more ads doesn't make up for a poorly explained service or a form that fails. Before recommending the tool, those elements and the available information need reviewing.

Our take: automation is valuable when it makes decisions easier to understand. Confirm access and requirements in the account, define what will be tested and distinguish contacts from sales. There's no need to adopt every update to start a well-prepared campaign.
