Advertising budget: how much goes to ads and how much to management

MR Mentoría guide · October 2026 · Reading time: 3 min

Two people splitting a budget into two hand-drawn columns on a large sheet of paper

The money you pay to show ads and the money you pay to manage them are different things. The first goes to the advertising platform; the second, to the work of preparing, reviewing and improving the campaign. To decide with peace of mind you need to see both amounts and know which activities the proposal includes, without discovering costs after you've started.

Imagine a monthly budget to advertise a service. Part of it can go towards getting the ad to interested people and another part to professional work. You might also need a landing page, visual creatives or an initial setup. This is an example of a structure, not a mandatory split. The right split depends on the project and should be written into an understandable quote.

Ad spend doesn't guarantee a given number of clients. An inquiry, a conversation and a sale are different results. If your business receives messages but can't handle them or explain the offer, the problem isn't solved just by showing more ads. That's why it's worth agreeing which result will be measured and how the journey after the click will be reviewed.

Management can include choosing objectives, preparing ads, reviewing messages, setting up measurement and follow-up. The scope changes depending on the channel and the needs. Ask how often the campaign will be reviewed and what report you'll receive. A document full of figures loses its usefulness if it doesn't explain which ones help decide whether to continue, change or stop an action.

Before increasing spend, check the page and the contact channels. The visitor needs to find what the ad promised and be able to take the next step. If the form fails or the button leads to a wrong number, you're paying for a broken journey. The technical review should go hand in hand with a commercial reading: clarity of the service, trust and ease of contact.

The business keeps an active role. It must provide true information, review messages and handle inquiries on time. The agency's work doesn't end with publishing, but it doesn't replace all of the client's commercial responsibilities either. Agreeing who approves the ads, who receives the contacts and who reviews the result reduces misunderstandings and helps you work with a limited budget.

It's best to start with an amount you can sustain and observe, rather than spending everything on a promise of immediate results. A first stage can show which messages attract interest and which difficulties appear. That doesn't mean any test is enough to draw final conclusions; you need useful information and to review the context. The next increase should have a concrete reason.

At MR Mentoría we keep management, media spend and additional work separate. We explain what will be done, what information you need to provide and what we'll review to make decisions. If you want to advertise your business, tell us which service you want to sell and how much you can set aside for the whole project. Let's build a proposal you understand and can sustain, with clear accounts from the start.
